Embracing the Miracle of the Moment

Monday, September 21st, 2009

MollyHannaJackie

I’ve had a reoccurring theme in my life these past few days …embracing the miracle of the moment. From a sweet Facebook friend (first picture) who encouraged me in a message, to the privilege (thanks, Kevin!) to attend Steven Curtis Chapman’s concert in Pittsburgh this past weekend with my sweet friend Kim, to church and lunch with teen sweetie, Hanna (pictured next), to another sweet fella in a pic with me here (Jackie), who helped and gave Travis and I numerous hugs at the Teens For Christ event last night. One busy weekend, for sure …one in that God was subtly and not so subtly communicating from all directions, ‘Embrace the miracle of the moment, Judy!’  Each day, each person, each activity; each ‘moment’ is such a great gift where God is speaking to us and doing so far beyond what we ask or think.  Is your past keeping you from noticing the miracle of the moment today?  Let’s not forget that God knew us even before He created us in our mother’s womb …He’s got our pasts in His hands.  And He promise us a hope and future with Him, so the days to come need not be our worry.  How are you making the most of this very moment?  Are you embracing it for the miracle it is?

Boy, did God ever work on our hearts at the Songwriting Retreat!?!?!?

God showed up in the unexpected!Beside me in this picture is Lisa, another Incubator Records recording artist whom God connected me with while at the Songwriting Retreat over Labor Day Weekend.  Lisa’s story is closely linked to mine, though from very different walks of lives.  The pain from our pasts, ministry focus, and how God worked specifically on our hearts while at the retreat was nothing other than all too similar …and nothing other than what only He can do! God stretched our hearts and awakened how our past stories were even effecting us today in this co-writing process, of all places! From powerful past feelings resurfacing themselves where we felt inadequate, unimportant, unloved, …you name it, fears and pains from our past seemingly snuck onto the scene as we were writing together.  Now, this may not seem like all that big of a deal on the onset, but God was really taking us back into our pain from the past so that we could see how it was effecting us today and so that He could show Himself faithful and strong as our God, Father and Hope …and then communicate all the more powerfully in our songs that were created thereafter.  I’ll tell ya what, I am not the same songwriter today, just a mere week later.

It was struggling to revisit past pain and actually do something about it at the retreat, but as Lisa and I pressed through the pain and even now continue to keep in touch and plan future songwriting/ministry times together, God’s reminded me once again how important it is for us to ask Him, on a continual basis, to show us how our past is effecting us today and bring the healing and freedom from it like only He can bring.  As Lisa and I both wrestled through some pain from the past in our co-writing experience at this songwriting weekend, God did more than show up. And He’s bringing that freedom in these areas of our lives that have caused us so much pain for so long.  Yes, that freedom comes when we surrender and allow Him to work deeply …the pain doesn’t have to last forever!

Who would have thought all that would come from a songwriting weekend?!! I sure didn’t. But God’s ways are soooooooo much better and higher than ours. As you give Him your story today, and ask Him how your past is effecting you in whatever you find your hands to do today, be ready for Him to answer …and bless you beyond belief with His strength, love and freedom?!!

Singing with Smitty on November 19th!

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Heeeeeeey everybody!  I’ve got some exciting news …I was asked this Saturday, (and have graciously accepted!), to sing in the choir for Michael W. Smith’s A New Hallelujah World Tour in Johnstown, PA this November 19th!  How fun is that?  Amy Grant, Smitty, Steven Curtis Chapman, etc. are the very first folks whom God used to grab this little girl’s heart and realize this ministry and singer/songwriter desire in my very core.  So, needless to say, I’m pretty excited.  And worship is such a huge part of my life and ministry, so the fact that this is a worship concert thrills me all the more.  Isn’t God’s ways so cool?

Here’s the info so you can plan to attend! …let me know if you’ll be there:

The Songwriting Retreat was AMAAAAAAAAAAAZING!!!

Friday, September 11th, 2009

I'm one happy songwriter!Well, I’ve safely returned from my travels to the West Coast!  What an irreplaceable time I had with my songwriting coach, producer, artists and execs at the record label!  As I am trying to process it all and venture in this next  part of my songwriting saga, I’m telling ya, words can’t accurately describe how blessed I feel! The Songwriting Retreat was more than amaaaaaaaaaaazing …and I have tried to put some words on paper about it in my Songwriting Retreat Ministry Update! If you haven’t gotten your copy of this special update, click the Contact Judy link at the bottom of my www.judydeans.com home page and I’ll get it to you right away. In the meantime, for all you visual folks like me, here’s a link to my Photo Journal from the retreat on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=312671&id=668255034&l=6c1333e859v.  Enjoy, and thanks for your amazing love, support and prayers!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh, Oregon, Here I Come!

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

I pray this blog finds you extremely well and smiling big. Would you please pray for me as I fly out to Oregon tomorrow for a special songwriting retreat at Incubator Records?!! That’s right, I’ll be working hands on with my songwriting coach, producer and dear execs at the label from the moment I step off the plane until I manage to catch a few zzzz’s on the flight home Monday! I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to keep you posted en route, but check back and at www.facebook.com/judydeans, as I’d like to squeeze in perhaps a video blog or two! I thank God for your prayers during this vital time as I strategically seek God with these songwriting skills and create original music for this ministry to the hurting. Thanks for your love, support and prayers! Aaaaahhh, Oregon, here I come!

Thanks for the Birthday Wishes! =)

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Happy Birthday! It was a GREAT day …though I feel as though I’m now recovering from the entire weekend AND the fun day off! I find every reason to celebrate when it comes to a birthday, so we jam packed the day with fun (after sleeping in, of course …this night owl does appreciate that!)  Music, traveling with my honey, lunch with a dear friend, the park where Travis took me the day we got engaged, and sweet time with the folks filled our day.  Thanks to all the love and wishes from so many of you on Facebook and abroad.  The onslaught of love put such a deep smile in my heart …and still does.  Bless you, and here are some pics for you to enjoy too!   http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=308336&id=668255034&l=c76150a963
